Prison life
Getting arrested doesn't mean sitting in a cell doing nothing. The /prison menu opens when you land in your cell (tap Start work to get going), and a countdown at the top of your screen shows exactly how long you have left.
Doing time
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| /prisonwork | Stamp license plates (a quick keypad minigame). Takes 1 minute off and pays 2 cigarettes. Every 45 seconds. |
| /commissary | Spend cigarettes (see below). |
| /yardfight | Fight another inmate in the cell block hall. |
| /escape | Pick your cell lock with a metal file. |
Work, bribes and fights can't take your sentence below 1 minute -- the last minute you always serve (unless you escape).
Cigarettes
Cigarettes are the prison currency, and you keep them between sentences.
| Item | Cost | Does |
|---|---|---|
| Metal file | 10 | Lets you /escape |
| Shiv | 6 | Your next yard fight hits 50% harder |
| Bribe a guard | 8 | 2 minutes off |
Files and shivs are contraband: the guards take anything you haven't used when you're let out.
Yard fights
Type /yardfight to call for a fight. The next inmate who types it takes you on (one fight at a time).
- Fists only, first to drop loses. No one outside the fight can hurt you, and nobody gets downed.
- Winner: 3 minutes off, 3 cigarettes and 20 REP.
- After 90 seconds whoever has more health left wins; a tie is a draw.
- Both fighters go straight back to their cells afterwards.
Escaping
With a metal file, /escape starts a lockpicking minigame (4 rounds).
- Success: your cell opens and you're out -- but with a 6-star wanted level, and every cop gets told. Get to the exit and /exitprison. +40 REP.
- Failure: the guards take the file and add 2 minutes.
Helping from outside
Smuggling
At the prison entrance (Phone > GPS > Prison), /smuggle [player] [file/shiv/cigs] gets contraband to an inmate.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Metal file | $3,000 |
| Shiv | $1,500 |
| 10 cigarettes | $1,000 |
It arrives 20 seconds later. 30% of the time the guards find it -- you lose the money, get 2 wanted stars and the cops are told. If your inmate is already out when it arrives, you get your money back.
Breakout jobs
Every arrest sends an anonymous SMS job to every civilian in Deathmatch: break the prisoner out for cash. Anyone can do it, not just teammates.
- Go to the prisoner's cell (Phone > GPS > Prison) and /breakout [cell] -- a lockpicking minigame (3 rounds).
- Reward: $2,000 + $400 per minute the prisoner has left (up to $6,000). One paid job every 10 minutes per player.
- Success: the prisoner is out (and not wanted). You get 2 wanted stars and 30 REP, and the cops are told.
- Failure: the cops are told someone tried, and that cell can't be picked again for 30 seconds.
For cops
Escapes, breakouts and caught smugglers all show up on your phone. An escapee has 6 stars -- bring them back.
